Ian Sylves

Ian Sylves joined MassMutual New York State (now Vision Financial Group) in 2020. Ian began his career in the industry as a financial professional and transitioned to focus on comprehensive financial planning. The ability to service his clients and provide solutions to an array of financial, professional, and personal concerns was the impetus for this choice. In his practice Ian works with his clients to solve for very specific concerns as well as providing holistic financial management and oversight through a fee-based financial planning process. Ian prides himself on making a positive and lasting impact for his clients and their families. His discovery process is focused on putting his clients in the driver’s seat and guiding them to their destination along the way.

Prior to entering the financial services industry—Ian played professional hockey for a couple years after his time as a student athlete at the State University of New York College at Buffalo (Buffalo State College). Ian’s professional hockey career took him across the United States and abroad including Budapest, Hungary. Hockey is still a large part of Ian’s life—he chooses to stay involved in the game through coaching privately. While at Buffalo State, Ian studied Economics with a Finance concentration and minored in Legal Studies. He graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Outside the office Ian enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, reading, coaching, and traveling. His cocktail of choice is an Old Fashioned. Sometimes you can catch Ian trying out new bars in town or at a Bills (or Sabres) game.
